Environment Services Department
When people move into the Borough their first contact is with the Environment Services Department; the Land Charges team they contact for their property search, is part of Environment.
When moving into their home, they will need a parking permit for their car and arrange for a parking suspension so the removal lorry can park and unload. Our Parking Control team deals with all of this. If they need a skip licence, the licence is issued by our reception staff.
If there are too many noisy parties, a visit from our Out of Hours Noise Patrol may be required, a part of the Environmental Protection Division. If they decide to set up a business in the Borough, it is the environmental protection staff that deal with licences, inspections and any complaints received about their business.
As they settle in, they may decide to make some changes to the property, for this they need to talk to our Planning team and Building Control officers.
There may be room on the from of their property to park the car; they will need to contact our Highways Division to arrange for a crossover to be built. The maintenance of the street and the items on it is the remit of the engineers in the Highways Division; they even have an arboriculture team, who look after the trees.
Once you have settled into your new home, you and your family may wish to go swimming, watch a local rugby game or learn new IT skills. Building Technical Services, who recently joined our team, acted as designers, project managers or advisors in the construction of the new Fulham Pools, Hurlingham Pavilion, Henry Compton Technology Block and many other Council buildings that are used to provide services to residents.
We can arrange your wedding reception, christening, parties and corporate functions at Fulham Palace, the only grade 1 listed building in the borough. The estate contains a number of grade 2 listed outbuildings and a large walled garden. The 20-acre botanic gardens, which are open to the public, are the only grade 2* English Heritage Registered Park in the borough. The whole of the site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and is bounded on three sides by an ancient infilled moat.
The Policy and Projects division help in the decision making of a lot of the Council's initiatives, they produce the UDP and other strategy documents.
