Safer neighbourhoods teams (SNTs)
Safer neighbourhood teams (SNTs) are dedicated policing teams with specific responsibility for a neighbourhood and they cannot be reassigned to other duties. The teams provide local policing for local people and are generally made up of one sergeant, two police constables and three police community support officers. Safer neighbourhood teams form the core of a crime reduction, reassurance and preventative approach, providing a means of community involvement and an accessible front-line police force. There are 16 safer neighbourhoods teams in our borough. These teams have been set up in partnership by the council and the Metropolitan Police Service.
24/7 SNTs:
Hammersmith & Fulham have launched Britain’s first round the clock beat officers – the most ambitious policing project ever started by a council. Hand-picked beat officers started patrolling the streets of Fulham Broadway and Shepherds Bush Green 24 hours a day, every day, at the start of April 2007 in a project that will last two years. They provide high visibility re-assurance policing to clamp down on anti-social behaviour, crime and disorder. All other wards are policed on a shift-basis.
