ASB - anti-social behaviour

ASB - anti-social behaviour

What the council's anti-social behaviour unit do and how to contact them.

The reduction of anti-social behaviour (ASB) and hate crime is a key priority for Hammersmith & Fulham. We work closely with many other agencies in the borough to tackle and reduce ASB. Some of these include the police, H&F Homes and other landlords and various youth agencies, such as Targeted Youth Support.

The Anti-Social Behaviour Unit (ASBU) within the council is a specialist team set up to deal with ASB in Hammersmith & Fulham. There are 5 ASB Coordinators, a Principal Coordinator, the ASB Manager and 2 Professional Witness Officers all dedicated to dealing with cases of ASB reported to the Council. The Principal Coordinator is also our dedicated Victims’ Champion.

Hammersmith & Fulham has minimum standards that all complainants of ASB and hate crime can expect to receive when they report ASB. These standards cover issues such as how soon we will interview you after a report, how often we will contact you during the life of your case and what steps we may take depending on the type of ASB reported. Incorporated into these standards is the Policing Pledge.

The Council and its partners have many tools and powers they can use to combat ASB, as well as using preventative measures to direct people away from causing nuisance to their neighbours. We can also put in place measures in residents’ homes to protect them from harm if they have been threatened.

When investigating cases and taking a case to court for an Injunction, Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) or to evict a person we will always ask for your consent before we do so. This is to ensure you are happy with the actions we are taking and that you understand the process of what may happen at court. We will never give your name to anyone unless you specifically agree for us to do so and you can report anonymously to us if you prefer.

To keep you informed of all the latest actions we have taken we will publicise on this page any new outcomes.

Third Party Reporting Centres have been set up around the borough to allow residents to make reports of hate crime in a more informal setting to members of the community rather than to the Council or police.
