Drug and alcohol crime

A high proportion of acquisitive crime is committed by offenders under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The council's community safety unit has close links with the Drug & Alcohol Action Team who develop and coordinate work to reduce the harm to individuals, their family and the community caused by the misuse of drugs and alcohol. 

Key areas include tackling drug and alcohol related crime and disorder, providing appropriate treatment services, delivering harm reduction advice and education and improving service user involvement in drug and alcohol services.
