Copy certificates
If you wish to obtain a copy of a Birth, Death, Marriage or Civil Partnership historical certificate please contact the Hammersmith and Fulham Register Office by phone, post or online.
They cost £9 each by post, by phone or online. Credit/Debit cards can be used for phone or online applications. Please note from November 2010 there will be a 1.25% charge for using a Credit card. For a fuller explanation please click on the following link.
You can also apply in person at the office.
For same day service for a historical certificate you need to to apply in the office before 3 pm and the cost is £12. You need all the information required, if not we cannot guarantee a same day service and the certificate may have to be collected the next day or sent to you in the post.

Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 4 pm. No appointment necessary. The office is closed until 11 am on the last Thursday of every month.

By post: Please download and complete the relevant form above and make cheques or postal orders payable to the London Borough Of Hammersmith and Fulham. Please send a stamped address for us to return the copy certificate to you, and add your telephone number. (Please allow 7-10 days to receive your certificate before contacting the office.)
By phone: If you wish to apply by Credit/Debit card please ring 020 8753 2140/2184 and have your card ready. Please also have all the required information available (to check, have a look at the forms above). (Please allow 7-10 days to receive your certificate before contacting the office.
Online: Alternatively, you can apply online.

Please note:
- This service is only available for historic registrations.
- If your online application is returned, your Credit/Debit card will be automatically refunded within 3-5 working days.
- Please allow 7-10 days to receive your certificate before you contact the office.
- A birth is registered at the register office where the birth occurred, which may not be where the person lived.
- If the person for whom the certificate is required is adopted, please apply to the General Register Office (ACR), Smedley, Hydro, Southport, PR8 2HH.
- A death is registered at the register office where the death occurred, which may not be where the person lived.
- We can only supply birth, death and marriage certificates that were originally registered in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
