Seeking Expressions of Interest Tender for the Provision of Home Care Services

Expressions of Interest invited

Hammersmith and Fulham Community Services Department wish to invite applications for the provision of home care services. In the first instance, services will be for older people.

However, organisations will need to demonstrate that they are committed and able to deliver care to all adults including those with Physical Disabilities, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs.

Expressions of interest are invited from organisations that are established, registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection and have substantial experience in the provision of home care.

This includes personal care, practical support and accessing community activities for older people and other adult service user groups. The organisation must be committed to the principles of valuing diversity and understand the social model of disability.

Hammersmith and Fulham have developed a new short term assessment and reablement service. This service has a reablement focus for people discharged from hospital. Applicants will need to complement this service by providing reablement focused services within the community.

The services are for older people requiring different levels of support to help them remain as independent as possible in the community and promoting their quality of life and wellbeing. The assistance required can range from a single visit up to a maximum of four visits a day which may require more than one care worker.

Invitations to tender will be issued to shortlisted applicants with a view to:

  • establishing an initial three-year contract (effective from July 2008);
  • an option to extend to five years;
  • consideration of further extensions dependent on performance and local need.

Applicants would be expressing an interest to join the existing two providers currently working in Hammersmith and Fulham to deliver this service.

It is expected that each provider will provide services to a discreet geographical area within the borough. The total number of older people receiving a home care service in the borough is 850 with 8250 hours. It is envisaged that each provider would be responsible for a third of that provision.

Organisations wishing to be considered as a potential provider should write to the following address requesting an application pack: Sacha Mortimer, London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Social Services Department, 3rd Floor, 145 King Street, London W6 9XY.

Expressions of interest must be received by 5pm on Wednesday, 7th November 2007.

Information packs will be sent by email to all applicants after this date.
