Markets in Hammersmith & Fulham
There are several markets within the borough, but the council do not licence all of them. We licence North End Road market traders, and have an agreement with the Thursday Farmers’ market held on Lyric Square. The stall traders around the three football stadiums are also licensed by us. There are a number of opportunities to hire a pitch at one of our regular markets in the borough. These are:
North End Road Market
North End Road Market lies on the east side of North End Road between Lillie Road and Fulham Road. Trading is carried out from Monday to Saturday between 0800-1800. This is a general market selling a variety of commodities.
Nearest Underground is Fulham Broadway on the district Line or 391 bus which runs along North End Road.

Lyric Square Farmers Market
Lyric Square is off King Street in Hammersmith and hosts our Farmers Market every Thursday run by the City and Country Farmers Market.
Nearest Underground station is Hammersmith on the Hammersmith & City Line, District Line and Piccadily Line.

We would also like to receive applications from good quality specialist market operators to operate in prime locations within Hammersmith & Fulham. These locations are - Lyric Square, Imperial Wharf, Jerdan Place and Vanston Place
Licensing information
If you want to trade at one of our markets you will need a licence from us. There are 2 types of licences, a temporary licence and a permanent licence. You must trade as a temporary licence holder for a minimum of 3 months before applying for a permanent licence.
We currently do not issue licences for fruit & vegetables
There is curently no vacancies at the football stadium pitches.
Applying for a street trading licence
The application fee for a temporary licences is £55.00.
We need the following documentation in addition to your application:
- Valid passport
- Proof of name and address, for example full UK driving licence, a utility bill no older than 3 months.
- Valid public liability insurance
- Two passport size photographs
- National Insurance Number on an official document.
- A food hygiene certificate is also required if you are proposing to sell food. More information can be found at the following link: Food safety
- Please note - If you are employing an assistant to work with you, the above documents will also need to be supplied for them.
These should be personally handed in by you to the Street Trading Team. You must contact us for an appointment time once you have completed the application form. You can phone us on 020 8753 3916. Following this meeting and if you are succesful, a licence to trade will then be issued and sent to your home address. If you do not supply the necessary documentation, the application will not be processed.
