The Licensing Act 2003

The Licensing Act 2003 brings the provision of licences for all licensable activities i.e. the sale and supply of alcohol, regulated entertainment and late night refreshment within our borough under the responsibility of this authority from 7th February 2005.

The new law requires us to publish a Statement of Licensing Policy. This policy will be used as a guide in decision making with regard to licensing matters. All of our decisions under the new act will be based on four licensing objectives, which are:-

• The prevention of crime and disorder
• Public safety
• The prevention of public nuisance
• The protection of children from harm
