Skip and building materials licence
From Monday 4th August 2008 a new policy will be introduced that will require all skips placed on the public highway to have in place a valid skip licence as well as a parking bay suspension.
Any building materials placed on the public highway will also be required to have a valid materials licence and a parking bay suspension.
How to Apply
Applications will only be accepted from the skip hire company. Residents and contractors will no longer be able to apply.
To apply, the skip hire company will need to complete the new application form. This application form will cover both the parking bay suspension and the skip licence. You will not need to make two separate applications.
Please note from the 4th August 2008, old skip licence application forms will no longer be accepted. You can download the new form, request it by telephone on 020 7371 5678 or in person from the Environment Reception Desk, 3rd Floor, Hammersmith Town Hall Extension.
Completed application forms should be faxed to the Parking Bay Suspensions Team on 020 8753 3267 or posted to LBHF Parking Services, PO Box 57142, London SW6 2WZ.
If applying by fax your application should be received at our offices by 12pm no later than on the 8th day before the date requested. If you are applying by post please allow plenty of time for your application to reach us.
You can also hand your application form in person at the Environment Reception Desk 3rd Floor, Hammersmith Town Hall Extension 8:45am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).
Bay Suspension Notice Period – minimum of 8 days notice
In order to provide reasonable notice to other road users, we need to place signs around the parking bays that are going to be suspended to place the skip. To allow us to do this, there are notice periods for parking bay suspension requests. From the 4th August 2008, you will need to submit your application form with payment at least 8 days in advance of the date you wish to place the skip on the highway.
Fees & Payment Method
The skip licence fee for a month is £56 and £50 for each further month. The parking bay suspension will cost £26.00 per bay (for 5 metres) per day.
You can pay by credit or debit card by completing your card details on the application form or if you wish to pay by cash you can do so by visiting the cashiers at Hammersmith Town Hall Extension – 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).
Enforcement
Enforcement officers will be patrolling the streets of the borough on a regular basis to make sure that all skips are legitimately sited and promptly removed following their license expiry.
Please note: Skip Licenses will only be issued to the Skip Hire Company. Therefore as the licensee, you will be responsible for compliance with ALL terms and conditions of the license. If you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of the license and do not follow any subsequent instructions from Enforcement officers to rectify the problem, you may be liable to prosecution.
If you fail to remove your skip on time or place it on the highway without a valid licence and parking bay suspension, we will remove the skip and recharge the cost to you.
