Crane operators' licence

If you want to use a crane on a public highway you must apply to us for a licence. For crane operations that involve using small mobile lifting platforms or a cherry picker for a short time, please apply for a Minor Crane Operations licence. For larger jobs you will require a Standard Crane Operations licence. The fees are:

• Minor Crane Operations licence: £88 (+ £250 refundable highways deposit)
• Standard Crane Operations licence: £220 (+ £250 refundable highways deposit)

Please print the form, complete and return it with your payment to the Environment Services Department Reception (fax number/postal address given on the form).

If you will need to suspend parking bays to carry out your crane operation please contact the Parking Bays Suspensions Desk on 020 8753 3288.  A minimum of 8 days notice is required to suspend a bay.  

If your crane operation will require a road closure please contact the Traffic Orders Team on 020 8753 4407.  A full road closure will require at least 4-6 weeks notice.
