Health and safety at work

Risk assessment
We carry out inspections of businesses in the borough such as offices, shops and warehouses, to ensure they are safe.

We do not deal with construction, manufacturing or council buildings. These are dealt with by the Health and Safety Executive (020 7556 2100).

We investgate reports of accidents at work that involve staff or the general public.

We investigate complaints relating to health and safety matters.

We provide information to businesses and members of the public to increase awareness of health and safety.

Much of the work of the team is determined by statute and the Divisional Enforcement Policy (pdf 61KB) lays down how legislation is interpreted and enforced.

» Report it  - report a trading standards, licensing or environmental health problem in the borough
