The council’s Business Enterprise Centre (BEC) provides advice and support to new and emerging businesses.
1. BEC offers pre-start businesses:
- A combined one day Introduction to Enterprise seminar, followed by a four day Business Planning course, plus opportunities to see a business adviser on a 1-to-1 basis to further develop your business plan. You will also be told about further specialist advice and sources of finance available either regionally or nationally
- Access to the New Entrepreneur Scholarship programme, a national training initiative available only to residents of the 15% most deprived wards nationally. There are five eligible wards in Hammersmith & Fulham
2. BEC offers existing businesses:
- 1-to-1 advice and ongoing support through a fee-paying six month mentoring programme
- Specific media sector support and networking opportunities across West London, through Focus West and the Centre for Creative Business
- Access to specialist mentoring support through the Business Volunteering Mentoring programme
3. BEC offers women and minority ethnic business owners:
- Access to a bespoke coaching programme, Surviving into the Mainstream, designed by BEC to improve survival rates. The programme, now available to eligible businesses in Hammersmith & Fulham, Brent and Ealing, combines coaching support, access to a learning bursary, residential weekends and ‘Seeing is Believing’ visits
