Benefits and grants
Housing benefit, council tax benefit, second adult rebate and free school meals are paid for by central government (Department for Work & Pensions) and administered by the benefits service.
School clothing grants are discretionary grants administered and paid by the benefits service.
The council also deals with benefit fraud and recovery of overpaid benefits.
