Our Civil Protection Team
What our Civil Protection team do to assist in emergencies
Our Civil Protection Team develops and carries out our policies and procedures for preventing; reducing the effect of; and responding to; emergencies and disruptive events.
They do this in line with the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. This process of managing risk makes sure that there are appropriate plans for the types of emergencies that are most likely to happen, or would cause the most disruption.
There are two broad categories:
1. Emergency planning and
2. Making sure businesses can continue to work effectively.
The Civil Protection Team works closely with people working in neighbouring boroughs, the emergency services, the utility services (gas, water, electrical and so on), and transport operators to make sure that they work together when they respond to an emergency.
