Preparing for emergencies
In September 2004 the government delivered the preparing for emergencies leaflet [PDF 22 pages 1.79MB, to every household in England and Wales. The leaflet shows measures that you can take now to protect you and your family, and the action you should take in an emergency: The leaflet is available in a number of languages along with a whole host of useful information on the DirectGov website.
The Red Cross website also provides information on the simple precautions you can take to prepare for a range of emergency situations, along with advice on how to cope if they happen.
