Outreach services
Based at Barons Court Library, Outreach Services tries to provide a lifeline for borough residents who, through lack of mobility, are not able to travel to their local branch library or mobile library stop.
The outreach service is delivered through two areas:
Housebound Readers ServiceHousebound Readers are visited by a member of library staff, who brings a selection of books, large print and talking books, music cassettes and CDs. These can be kept until the next library visit, which is usually every three weeks.
Anybody, of any age and including children, may apply for this service. Potential new readers are assessed by a needs criteria, which includes disability, isolation, age and distance from a library service point.
Deposit Collection Service
Collections of books are loaned out to sheltered housing sites, nursing homes and care centres. The collections contain a variety of books to suit the needs of the individual sites, including novels, large print and information.
Collections are exchanged by library staff every eight to twelve weeks.
If you know of someone who might benefit from one of these services, or would like some more information, or are interested in registering, please contact Outreach Services on 020 7610 4251.
