Music service

Music ServiceMusic groups and tuition for children in the borough

The Music service was established in 2000 and has developed with ‘Access and Inclusion’ at the heart of its aims and objectives. The service currently enables 2500 pupils to access a variety and breadth of opportunity at different levels.

Starting in the classroom the music service provides projects at the grass roots through wider opportunities, curriculum support and teacher CPD enabling pupils’ access to instrumental tuition. Singing is central to all programmes and activities within the Borough. This has enabled the service to build a strong foundation from which instrumental support has developed. In order to raise attainment and motivate young people the Music Service works collaboratively with professional partners, schools and communities to build and unite. The curriculum reflects the cultural diversity within the Borough and is accessible to everyone.

The Music Service not only concentrates on the musical development of young people but also the musical education of all children. It is essential, in order to raise attainment and motivate young people, we work collaboratively with professional partners, schools and communities to build and unite.  This is in partnership with the DfES, BBC, National Foundation for Youth Music, John Lyons and other external partners and providers.
