Landlords accreditation scheme
The London Landlord Accreditation Scheme (LLAS) scheme is supported by all of London’s 33 boroughs, the main landlord organisations and several Universities.
It provides essential training and development for landlords in the capital in a bid to ensure tenancy standards are maintained. Landlords will be assessed after their training. Attendance on the LLAS is voluntary, but landlords that satisfactorily complete the course will receive a formal accreditation.
The project has been awarded £1,170,000 from central Government to provide landlords, who become accredited under the scheme, with money to help improve their properties. Further funding is being provided by the London boroughs.
Landlords will be provided with information and training on a number of key areas, including landlord/tenant laws; housing benefit; health and safety; and their obligations to repair and maintain properties.
A code of conduct will be an integral part of the scheme in order to encourage landlords to maintain high standards.
