Hammersmith & Fulham Council would like to assist you, our council tenant, in getting low cost Home Contents Insurance cover. We have arranged a contents insurance scheme with Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc which is geared towards your needs.
From as little as £1.75 a week (£1.05 a week for tenants aged 60 and over receiving state retirement pension) you will have a contents insurance policy which includes the following benefits:

- Cover for escape of water / oil

- Cover for accidental damage to TV’s, videos, DVD’s and accidental breakage of mirrors and fixed glass in furniture.
- Cover for freezer contents
- Cover for personal money in the home
- Cover for theft and loss of keys
- Cover for damage to interior decorations.
- Accidental death cover
How the scheme works:
To join the scheme your rent account must be in credit, or not more than 4 weeks in arrears and you must fill in an application form. These are available from the Technical & Support Services Unit on 020 8753 1928, or your local area housing office who you may visit direct or contact by calling the Council switchboard on 020 8748 3020 and ask to be connected to the relevant housing office. Completed forms should be sent back to the Council. Once accepted onto the scheme you will receive details about your policy direct from the Insurers. Weekly premiums can be paid along with your rent or water rate payments. The amount of the premium will depend upon how much cover you have requested. Should you need to make a claim, then contact the Technical & Support Services Unit for a claim form on 020 8753 1928. The procedure is quite simple!
(Note: in the event of payments not being kept up to date, policies, and therefore cover, will be withdrawn.)
