The Green Garden Waste Scheme 2008 - garden waste recycling

The garden waste scheme for 2008 has now been launched. To take part in the scheme (even if you have sacks left over from last year) you must  place an order for your first 50 biodegradable sacks, which will be delivered within 7 working days.

Collection Days

Collection days will be on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday depending on where you live in the borough. You can view a PDF showing collection days for all streets in the borough or call the hotline to find out which day your collection will be made.

How to place your first order

» Order your biodegradable sacks online. Or you can call the hotline to order sacks over the phone.

If you register before Tuesday your sack delivery will arrive later that same week and your first garden waste collection will take place the week after, on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday depending on where you live (please see map above).

If you register after Tuesday  you could wait 8-10 days for your sack delivery and up to to 2 weeks after registration for your first garden waste collection.

Cost

The costs are £7.25 for a first order of 50 biodegradable sacks (two rolls) and £7.25 per 25 sacks (one roll) for repeat orders. This works out at 14.5p per sack for a first order and 29p per sack for later orders - covering supply of the sacks, collection and composting.

If you use up all your biodegradable sacks supplied when first registering for the Green Garden Waste scheme, additional rolls of sacks can be ordered either online, using the the link below, or by calling the Cleaner, Greener Hotline on 020 8753 1100.
