Equality Standard for Local Government (ESLG)
The ESLG was established in 2001 through a partnership between the Commission for Racial Equality, the Disability Rights Commission, the Equal Opportunities Commission and the DIALOG unit of the Employers’ Organisation for local government, with advice from the Audit Commission.
Revised in 2006 following a major review, the Standard has been extended to address six equality stands: age, disability, gender, race, religion/belief and sexual orientation.

The Principal Corporate Equalities Officer (PCEO) is currently reviewing and analysing the revised Standard. The PCEO has undertaken a comparison exercise to compare key criteria of the previous and revised Standard. Work has also commenced on guidance for the revised ESLG. The guidance template is available here as is the ESLG comparison document:
