Equalities in Housing
We work to improve equal opportunities in housing:
- the services we deliver;
- who receives those services;
- how we are organised;
- who we employ.
The Equalities Standard for Local Government (ESLG) is a challenging national standard covering race, gender, disability, sexuality and work on services for older people. We reached ESLG Level 2 in 2004. We aim to reach Level 3 by March 2006.
As part of the ESLG we have introduced Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) to monitor any adverse impact of policies and procedures on race, gender, disability, sexuality and age. We also provide reports and information for councillors, housing services managers and for Housing Management Services.
