Drains and gullies
We maintain drains and gullies on the borough’s public roads and pavements. When we receive a report of a blocked gully, it will usually be cleared within two days unless there is a problem with the gully itself, in which case the work may take longer. As part of our routine maintenance we clean all gullies every six months.

Drainage and water pipe problems in private properties
If your neighbour has a blocked or defective drain resulting in foul smells, sewage running down the path or foul waste illegally entering the fresh water system then environmental health can serve a legal notice on that person requiring them to remedy the matter. Report it
The local water utility company Thames Water is responsible for blocked drains and other drainage problems in private properties as well as burst water mains and pipes. To report a problem with private drains and water pipes, please click here to visit the Thames Water website.
