Blue Badges

Parking badge for people who have difficulty walking

The Blue European Parking Badge allows people with severe walking difficulties to park close to places they wish to visit. Badges are issued to people who would not otherwise be able to visit shops, public buildings or other places.   You are automatically entitled to a badge if:

  • you are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (Higher Rate Mobility Allowance)
  • you are registered blind
  • you receive a War Pensioners’ Mobility supplement
  • you drive a vehicle regularly, have a severe congenital disability in both arms, and are unable to operate, or have considerable difficulty in operating, all or some types of parking meter.

Badges can also be provided under discretionary criteria if you have a permanent and substantial disability that means you have considerable difficulty walking. In this case you will be asked to visit the Blue Badge and Freedom Pass Team so that we can ask you some questions to work out if you are eligible. You will also be asked to provide a letter from your doctor and may also be required to undergo a mobility assessment conducted by a physiotherapist.

Please call the Blue Badge and Freedom Pass Team on 020 8753 5046 to request an application form or for more information. You can post your application form or renew your Blue Badge at Room 31, Ground Floor, Hammersmith Town Hall, King Street, Hammersmith W6 9JU between 2pm - 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Discretionary application will require a mobility assessment and therefore may take longer to process.
