A brief guide to the council
Getting in touch
Finding new ways to make it easier for you to use council services is important to us. Extending our opening hours to evenings and weekends, introducing texting services, enabling you to pay for parking using your mobile phone – these are just some of the ways we are trying to make it more convenient for you to talk to us.
Our first-stop contact centre is open from Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm and on Saturday from 9am to 1pm. Just call 020 8748 3020, or email information@lbhf.gov.uk
Outside those hours, we have an emergency only service on 020 8748 8588 or minicom 020 8753 5753.
You can also find a wealth of information about council services elsewhere on the website. You might also find our easyMaps service useful. Simply by typing in your address you can view a map of your local neighbourhood with schools, libraries, recycling banks and much more.
Look out for H&F News, our residents’ newspaper. It’s delivered every month to every home in the borough and aims to keep local people up to date with local news, events and service information.
Who runs the council?
The borough is divided into 16 wards, each represented by two or three ward councillors. They are elected every four years. They hold regular surgeries where you can meet them for help and advice.
The council is run by a cabinet, chosen by the majority party, which in Hammersmith & Fulham is Conservative. The cabinet consists of a Leader and six cabinet members specialising in particular areas. A number of scrutiny panels holds the cabinet to account and meetings are open to the public.
